Does Rogz Pet Insurance offer benefits towards preventative treatment?

Yes, Routine Care is included in the Rogz Pet Insurance Option C package. We recommend and encourage responsible pet ownership. This includes spaying your pet, annual vaccination, tick and flea control, deworming and dental scaling/polishing (procedure only).

What is an Accidental Injury?

A physical or bodily injury that happens accidentally to your pet as a result of external, violent and visible means. For example: broken bones, snake bite, dog/cat fight.

What Is Rogz Pet Insurance?

Rogz Pet Insurance helps you pay your pet's veterinary bills so you never have to choose between your pet's health and your personal finances. With increasing veterinary costs and advancement in veterinary care, Pet Insurance is an option more owners are considering.

When is the best time to buy my pet insurance?

Puppies and kittens are more likely to develop an illness or injury than an adult pet. Their coordination is still developing along with their immune system. So, we suggest insuring as soon as possible to avoid unexpected surprises that may result in a pre-existing exclusion on your policy, preventing your pet from getting full cover.

But just because your pet isn't a puppy or kitten doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't get pet insurance. As pets age they get sicker and have more and higher vet bills than when they were young. As soon as your pet is 8 weeks of age they can be covered by Rogz Pet Insurance.

Will the cost of my insurance change each year?

Our challenge is to find a healthy balance between providing the best possible benefit, while keeping the premiums as affordable as possible to ensure a sustainable product. With rising costs in veterinary care as well as more advanced treatment available to more pet owners, your premium and/or benefits may change on an annual basis.

Do you cover cremation of a pet?

If the pet, due to accident or illness, dies or is euthanased by a registered vet, a contribution towards cremation is payable.

Do you cover treatment for Parvo virus (Katgriep/cat flu), Giardia or Kennel Cough?

We believe in preventative health care and that is why we provide Routine Care on Option C to help pay for vaccinations, deworming, tick and flea control, sterilisation and dental scaling/polishing (procedure only). We do not pay for illnesses or conditions that are preventable through routine vaccination, deworming and flea control. Parvo virus and kennel cough are not covered as they can be prevented through routine vaccination. Giardia is covered as it is not a preventable condition.

Does Rogz Pet Insurance cover elective surgeries?

Elective surgeries such as dew claw removal and cosmetic surgeries are not covered.

When will my benefits be renewed?

Your annual benefits will renew on the anniversary of your policy start date e.g. if your Policy starts on 1st June then your Benefits renew on the 1st June every year thereafter.

Will pre-existing conditions requiring repeat scripted medication be covered?

No, pre-existing conditions or complications of those conditions are not covered.

Can my claim be paid directly to the veterinarian?

No, the insurance contract is between you and Rogz Pet Insurance. You are required to pay the vet in full first and then claim from us.

How do I get paid when my claim has been approved?

The money will be deposited directly into your bank account. You will be sent a letter by post explaining how the claim was paid.

Is there a cut-off period after which I cannot make a claim?

Yes, if you submit claims more than 2 months after the treatment date, Rogz Pet Insurance will not be liable to pay those claims.

What do I need to do when I make my first claim?

  1. Pay the vet in full first
  2. Fill out a Claim Form and have it signed by the attending vet.
  3. Send:

    2. A detailed Vet Invoice
    3. Proof of Payment: To the administrator: PetSure Claims, PO Box 87419, Houghton, 2041 or via e-mail to:

  4. Hollard then calculates the benefit and value and sends payment directly to you. It is as simple as that. Note: Benefits are paid according to 100% of the tariff rate* less R200** excess per claim. Annual sublimits apply and are available on the Rogz Pet Insurance Website or on request (, 0860 00 ROGZ / 0860 00 7649). There is no excess deductible for Routine Care claims.

*The PetSure Tariff Rate was based on the South African Veterinary Council Guideline of Fees and is reviewed annually.

**A R300 excess will apply for pets under the age of 13 months at time of treatment.

Will anything delay reimbursement for my claim?

Yes, claims processing will be delayed if claims are not legible - this may occur with faxed claims. Claims processing may also be delayed if the claim form is not filled out completely or the claim form, invoice or proof of payment is not submitted.

Can I cancel my policy?

Yes, you have a 14 day money back guarantee period from the start date of your policy to review and cancel with no obligation. If you would like to cancel your policy after this period we require one calendar month's written notice to cancel.

How do I renew my policy?

Rogz works on a monthly policy, as long as you pay your premiums, you will remain a member of Rogz Pet Insurance. You do not need to renew your policy.

How do I update my payment information?

Send an e-mail with updated payment information to or call 0860 00 ROGZ / 0860 00 7649.

What are my payment options?

  1. Monthly debit order on 26th (for the next month) 1st or 4th of the month.
  2. Credit card - automatic debit on 26th (for the next month) 1st or 4th of the month.
  3. Annual payments by EFT or credit card only.

When will my credit card / debit card be charged?

You may choose either the 26th (for the next month), 1st or 4th of the month for payments to be charged.

Can I change my pet's coverage during the year?

Yes, on your Pet's Anniversary date. Only one change is permitted in the life time of your Pet at the discretion of the Underwriter.

Can I transfer my policy to a new owner?

No, but you can change the pet over to a new owner.

The original owner will have to notify Rogz Pet Insurance of the change of ownership.

The original owner will then be required to cancel their Pet's cover on their policy and the new owner will send through an application form re-joining the pet under their name with new banking details.

The new owner will receive a New Policy (or Updated Policy if they are already a member of Rogz) covering the Pet.

The one calendar month waiting period will not apply unless there is a lapse in the monthly premium payment between Change of Ownership.

NOTE: There might be a change in premium due to a combination of different risk factors.

If I cancel my policy for any reason, will I get a refund?

Yes, you have a 14 day money back guarantee period from the start date of your policy to review and cancel with no obligation. If you would like to cancel your policy after this period we require one calendar month's written notice to cancel (there will not be a refund). If your pet has unexpectedly passed away, we will refund any premiums that have been debited for cover for the following months on an annual policy (one month cancellation period will not apply).

If I cancel my policy will I be able to reinstate my pet's coverage later?

Yes, but any new conditions that develop when your pet is not covered will be classified as pre-existing and may be excluded. A one month waiting period will apply after application to re-instate.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The proposal to reinstate your policy is subject to underwriting guidelines. Acceptance of this insurance for any pet is at the discretion of the underwriters. We reserve the right to decline acceptance of a pet and to vary the conditions on which the insurance is accepted.

Can the microchip harm my pet?

No. The microchip must be inserted by a veterinarian. It does not move around in the body and it does not harm the pet.

Can the microchip track my pet's location?

No, the microchip does not send out signals that can be traced by a tracking device or picked up via satellite. Your pet's location cannot be tracked with the microchip.

How do I claim reimbursement for the microchip voucher provided with Option C?

The next time you visit the vet with your pet (for a consultation or vaccinations) take the voucher with you and get your pet microchipped. Ask your vet to sign and stamp the voucher and send it through to us with the invoice, and we will refund you directly R100 towards the cost of the microchip. You will need to pay your vet up front in full. Microchipping is done at the owner’s expense. Please note that you will only receive the voucher refund after you have been a member for at least 90 days, even if the claim was made before.

What happens if my pet does not have a microchip?

If your pet does not have a microchip, Rogz Pet Insurance requires that you have one inserted when you next visit your vet. If your pet does not have a microchip and is on Option C, Rogz Pet Insurance will send you a R100 voucher towards payment of a microchip with your welcome pack. The next time you visit the vet with your pet (for a consultation or vaccinations) take the voucher with you and get your pet microchipped. Ask your vet to sign and stamp the voucher and send it through to us with the invoice and we will refund you directly R100 towards the cost of the microchip after you have been a member for at least 90 days. You will need to pay your vet up front in full. Microchipping is done at the owner’s expense. Please note that you will not be able to make a claim without proof that your pet has a microchip.

Why do I need a microchip to claim?

It is a unique number, much like a person's ID number in their ID document. It is essential to have a microchip inserted for claiming purposes as it identifies each pet specifically and has the legal owner's details on the database.
